Obituary for Carolyn Bonnie Bankhead (Bankhead)

Carolyn Bonnie Bankhead made her transition from life in Fort Worth, TX on August 26, 2022. She was born April 6, 1966 in Waukegan, Illinois to the union of Annie Beal and late Johnnie Bankhead. Bonnie, as she liked to be called, was loved by friends and family as she allowed her light to shine. She graduated from Waukegan High School in 1984. She was active in many sports and enjoyed being involved in school activities.

Bonnie was a social butterfly and loved to travel whether with friends or alone. She was loud, loving, and had a steadfast devotion to her close friends that she often considered family. She enjoyed good people, good food, and good times. Bonnie had no trouble extending a helping hand, in word of encouragement or action, to anyone in need and in return she made quite a few unbreakable bonds.

Like her father Bonnie enjoyed activism and made sure to show up for causes she believed in. She was very strong willed and worked her way up the corporate latter of the Government sector. Bonnie loved processes and numbers and she was great at what she did. She had a radiant personality and often only those special in her life or worked closely with her could appreciate her shine. A true people person who seldom remained a stranger to people she met. You are loved, cherished and missed.

She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Johnnie Bankhead (Shirley) , paternal grandparents Henrietta Johnson (Joseph) and Albert Bud Bankhead, maternal grandparents Mary Dunn (Curtis) and Willie King (Carrie).

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memories son, Jaquan Bankhead, Columbia, SC; daughter Savontaye Bankhead, Austin, TX; mother and stepfather Annie Beal (Samuel), Kenosha, WI; sisters Carla Valesquez, Waukegan, IL and Janet Johnson (Louis), Fort Worth, TX and special friends Shelly Hollingsworth, Sandra Williams-Epson, Charlene Crouchet, Donna Goode and Doris Payne and a host of family and friends.
