Obituary for Lawrence Joseph Rutherford

Reflections of Life
On November 17th, 1968, here in Fort Worth, Texas a beautiful bundle of joy was born to Pearlie and Joe Rutherford. The proud elated parent name their gift from God Lawrence Joseph Rutherford. After being home for a couple of months “Scooter” fell victim to meningitis. At the time there were no vaccine. The doctors had given up on him but because of the prayers of a neighborhood and our pastor the late Rev J. R. Evans laying hands and speaking the word of God over him, he survived. He was our miracle child. Jimmie, Rodney and Chris were Scooter best friends, they held him down.

At an early age he was dedicated to the Lord and united with Samaria Baptist Church with his family. Later in life he gave his own life to the Lord and united himself to The Church of Philadelphia, under the late great Dr. Gregory Spencer. He received his education from the Fort Worth ISD. He attended O.D. Wyatt High school where he later graduated from Polytechnic High School. He loved playing basketball; you could always find him at the neighborhood park playing ball with his friends. His 1st job was Circle A Electric as a parts driver, throughout his life he had a passion for driving. He obtained his CDL which allowed him to drive bigger trucks and move around like he wanted. His favorite job was that of Choice Valet, because he like meeting new people and famous faces. He would always call us and tell us who he had met that day.

On August 11th, 2021, in the middle of the evening Scooter answered the call from his heavenly father and received his “crown of glory”. He is preceded in rest by mother and father, grandparents, brother Billy Joe Solomon, nephew Terrick Rutherford. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his 3 beautiful sisters Adrianna Thomas (Taft), Alfrieda Rutherford, Karen
